Kairos ‘Wild Ferment’ Waipara Dry Riesling 2009

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 06-Sep-2011
Made from fruit from the Waipara Valley indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc. with 7 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees 7 months, this has a bright, light golden-straw colour with a soft, full, weighty nose showing lime fruits, honey, smoke and spices, the off-dry palate has a full body with honey, citrus fruits and spices. Lovely acid freshness provides excellent tension to moderate the palate size, and the mouthfeel is smooth and lush, without any harshness whatsoever. Inspired by the Smaragd Rieslings of the Wachau in Austria, while not so pure, this is more complex in flavour.  Sep 2011
