Kahurangi Estate Nelson Gewurztraminer 2014

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 17-Jul-2015
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with light, pale-golden hues, pale on rim. The nose is soft and gently voluminous with good depth of rose-petal florals harmoniously presented with aroma of musk and root ginger, unfolding nuances of mineral, honeysuckle and creaming soda. This grows in opulence with aeration. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features gently luscious flavours of tropical fruits, Turkish Delight, musk and honeysuckle. The wine is up-front and creamy in texture, with soft acidity adding to the richness and lusciousness. The wine flows smoothly, leading to an elegant, finely bound, lingering finish with soft spice and exotic floral elements. This is a rich, lush, smooth-textured off-dry Gewurztraminer with up-front exotic flavours. Match with Mediterranean and Asian fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from Redwood Valley, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 14.3% alc. and 9 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 18.0/20 Jul 2015 RRP $21.90
