Kahurangi Estate ‘Mt Arthur Reserve’ Nelson Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 26-Apr-2016
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is softly packed and elegantly presented with aromas of ripe dark raspberry fruit harmoniously entwined with subtle notes of dark herbs and a little minerally reduction, building in intensity to reveal a core of raspberry liqueur. Medium-bodied, the fruit flavours of dark raspberries are rich and juicy and well-entwined with layers of dark herbs and mineral detail to form a concentrated heart. The mouthfeel is smooth and flowing with supple, seamless tannins and soft, integrated acidity. The flavours are deep and youthfully firm, with linear drive, and lead to a silky, moderately sustained fish of dark raspberries and herbs. This is an elegantly concentrated, seamless flowing Pinot Noir with dark raspberry and herbal flavours. Match with pork, lamb and beef dishes over the next 5 years. Pinot Noir fruit predominantly from the ‘Fossil Ridge’ vineyard, clones 5 and 777, from vines 13-17 y.o., fully-destemmed and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 20% new oak. 18.0/20 Apr 2016 RRP $29.90
