Kaapzicht ‘Steytler’ Stellenbosch Pinotage 2007

Pinotage from South Africa
Review Date : 07-Aug-2013
Stellenbosch fruit from bush vines, fermented to 14.98% alc., the wine aged 20 months in new French oak. Saturated black-red colour, still youthful in appearance. This has a fine and intense bouquet of well-ripened, dark berry and plum fruit aromas, complexed with lifted savoury elements and spicy new oak. Full-bodied, sweetly ripe black berry fruit flavours feature on the palate. This is rich and concentrated with real depth. Fine, grainy tannins provide serious structure and firm flow, with fresh acidity enlivening the mouthfeel, and alcohol adding to the drive. The oaking is significant with mocha notes, which carry through to a rich finish with sweet and earthy fruit notes. This will develop over the next 6-8+ years. 18.5/20 Aug 2013 RRP $72.00
