Full, near-impenetrable black-hued purple-red colour, a little lighter edged, and very youthful in appearance. This has a very fine, firm and intense nose with deep aromas of ripe blackberry fruit with notes of blackcurrants, cassis and black plums, along with notes of dark herbs and nuances of iron-earth minerals. Medium bodied, the palate is finely concentrated with a core of rich, vibrant and sweetly ripe blackberry fruit intermixed with black plums, nuances of cassis, dark herbs and spicy oak. The fruit has intensity and linearity and is supported by fine-grained powdery tannin structure and grip. The acidity is ripe and integrated, and the palate carries with positive drive to a long and sustained finish of sweet black fruits and spices. This is a well-concentrated Malbec with ripe black fruits and notes of spice and cassis on affine-grained, linear palate. Match with roasted red meats and semi-hard cheeses over the next 7-9 years. 100% Malbec from the Gimblett Gravels fermented to 13.1% alc., the wine aged 18 months in one-third new French oak barriques.
