Ka Tahi Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2015

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 16-Jun-2016
Very dark, purple-hued black-red colour, a little lighter on the rim, and very youthful in appearance. The nose is moderately concentrated with fresh, primary fruit aromas of blackberries and raspberries entwined with some minerally reduction. Nuances of dark herbs, black pepper and violet florals emerge with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate features rich, plush and juicy, up-front flavours of sweetly ripe blackberries and raspberries, along with plum jam, black pepper and lifted florals. The juicy mouthfeel is balanced by supple tannin extraction ad fresh acidity. This has a lively and energetic core that carries to a long, dry finish of black and red fruits and notes of plums and spice. A little reductive on the nose, this is a juicy and plush, sweet, blackberry and raspberry fruited Syrah with a softly concentrated core. Match with lamb and beef, and with Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3+ years. 100% single clone and single vineyard wine, fermented to 13.4% alc., the wine bottled without oak. 17.0+/20 Jun 2016 RRP $19.99
