Jurtschitsch ‘Reserve’ ‘Kaferberg’ ‘1. OTW’ Gruner Veltliner 2007

Gruner Veltliner from Austria
Review Date : 07-Feb-2013
Kamptal, from the ‘Kaferberg Erste Lage, no botrytis, indigenous yeast fermentation in 1,100 L old oak to 14.0% alc. and 5.8 g/L rs, aged on lees without batonnage. Bright, light straw-yellow with slight golden hues. The nose is very fine in presentation with aromas of herbs and nectarines complexed by oak spices. Dry to taste, the palate is concentrated with smooth and seamless textures, the flavours of nectarines, herbs and spices interwoven with nutty oak notes. Some fine phenolic elements show with time in glass and the oak becomes a little more obvious, but the flavours are cut by fresh acidity. This has a noticeable oak component that works with the fruit akin to a white burgundy. 18.5/20 Feb 2013
