Julicher Martinborough Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 20-Apr-2015
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with a little depth, lighter on rim. The bouquet is elegant in presentation and tightly concentrated with fresh and steely aromas of white and yellow stonefruits intermingling with nutty and oxidative complexities, the aromatics beginning to show savoury secondary hints. Medium-bodied, the palate is tightly bound with subtle stonefruit and citrus fruit flavours entwined with nutty detail. The mouthfeel is fresh and lively with fresh, steely acidity, and the wine follows a fine textural thread and line. This has a rounded and creamy underlying core that leads to a long finish with citrus and nutty notes. This is a tight and fresh Chardonnay with stonefruit and nutty flavours. Match with seafood and most white meat dishes over the next 4+ years. Mendoza and clone 15 fruit, hand-picked and WBP, and barrel-fermented, a portion on solids to 13.88% alc., the wine aged 10 months in French oak, 1 y.o. and older, undergoing batonnage and partial MLF. 17.5/20 Apr 2015 RRP $24.00
