Julicher ’99 Rows’ Martinborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 26-Apr-2016
Moderately dark, ruby-red colour, lighter on the rim with slight purple hues. The nose is fresh with softly concentrated and deep aromas of bright, dark raspberry fruit entwined with subtle notes of liquorice, dark herbs and complexing minerally, reductive detail. This has firmness at the core, unfolding nuances of earth and spice. Medium-bodied, the palate possesses rich and juicy flavours of dark raspberries along with nuances of plums, liquorice and dark herbs. The mouthfeel is bright and lively with fine-grained tannin extraction and fresh acidity in support, and the wine flows along a tight line with good energy and drive. Attractive aromatic plum and violet floral detail emerges on the sweet, but fine-textured finish. This is a bright, sweet-fruited Pinot Noir with flavours of dark raspberries and a fresh, fine-textured mouthfeel. Match with poultry, pork, lamb and beef over the next 5 years. A barrel selection blend. Clones 5, 6, 114, 115, 667, 777 and Abel, hand-picked, destemmed and fermented to 13.23% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 5% new French oak barrels. 18.0-/20 Apr 2016 RRP $32.00
