Jules Taylor ‘OTQ’ ‘Limited Release’ ‘Single Vineyard’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2017

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-Aug-2018
Full, even, bright, light straw-yellow colour with lemon-gold hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is full, broad and deep with aromas of white stonefruits melded with a layering of gunflint sulphide reduction, unfolding nutty, toasty and smoky oak detail. The nose possesses freshness and vitality. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a rich heart with flavours of white stonefruits interwoven with gunflinty reduction with nutty oak, unfolding rich toasty and smoky elements. The fruit is lively and vibrant, and the mouthfeel refreshing with lacy acidity. The wine carries along a fine-textured line leading to a long and sustained finish of flint, nuts, smoke and minerals. This is a rich and vibrant Chardonnay with stonefruit, gunflint, nuts and toasty oak with fine structure and a fresh mouthfeel. Serve with poultry, pork and veal over the next 4 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Meadowbank’ vineyard, Taylors Pass, WBP and fully barrel-fermented by indigenous yeasts to 13.29% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 35% new French oak with batonnage and 100% MLF. 19.0-/20 Aug 2018 RRP $43.90
