Jules Taylor Marlborough Gruner Veltliner 2017

Gruner Veltliner from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 17-Jul-2018
Bright, light golden-yellow colour with straw-green hues, paler on the edge. The nose is softly full and up-front with positive aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits and hints of tropical fruit entwined with subtle notes of green stonefruits and fresh herbs, some mineral elements, unfolding fragrant florals. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a rich, softly packed, dense core of yellow stonefruits and tropical fruit, with green stonefruits, herbs and lifted florals. This has richness and presence and the wine flows with good energy along a fine-textured phenolic line, with fresh, underlying acidity. The flavours carry to an elegant, lingering, but rich finish. This is a rich, up-front, well-concentrated dry Gruner Veltliner with stonefruit, tropical fruit, herbal and floral notes on a palate with presence and a fine-textured line. Match with poultry and pork over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the ‘Anderson’ vineyard in the Brancott Valley, fermented in tank with 20% which was hand-picked, indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned French oak, to 12.83% alc. and 0.6 g/L RS, the barrel portion undergoing MLF. 18.5/20 Jul 2018 RRP $24.99
