Josmeyer Alsace Grand Cru Riesling ‘Hengst’ 2007

Riesling from France - Alsace
Review Date : 31-Jan-2012
Fruit from the ‘Hengst' grand cru. Bright straw-yellow with golden hues. This is very tight and elegant on the nose with a restrained core of citrus fruits, yellow stonefruits and minerals, and indicating a warmish ferment in the softness, presence and weight as well as savoury nuances. Dry, medium-full bodied, this has power and some alcohol, allied to finesse of texture. Undeveloped stonefruit flavours with minerality, and crisp, searing acidity indicate the youthfulness here. The wine finishes with a steely, mineral length, carrying some phenolics. This has the potential to unfold over the next 4-6+ years. 13.5% alc. and 7 g/L rs. 18.5-/20  Jan 2012
