Joseph Faiveley Puligny-Montrachet 1er ‘Folatieres’ 2009

Chardonnay from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 17-Jul-2012
From vines owned by the estate, but still under contract and thus purchased. 60% new oak. 50 dozen made. Bright straw-yellow colour with some golden hues. The bouquet is very fine and intense with clear-cut citrussy fruit along with mealy notes, nuts and new oak. Elegantly proportioned, this is upfront, but with tightly concentrated and deep flavours of ripe citrus fruits, biscuit-mealy notes and toasty oak. The acidity is brisk and lends a raciness to the mouthfeel, and leads to a very long finish featuring nutty, spicy oak. A full-flavoured white burgundy with strong fruit and oak characters. 5-6 years. 18.5-/20 Jul 2012 RRP $142.95
