Joseph Drouhin Pommard 2009

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 19-Apr-2013
Light ruby-red colour with garnet hues. The bouquet is full and even, well-integrated, showing dark-red berry fruits, the aromatics ripe and with subtle layers and detail of meaty-earthy interest. On palate quite a solid and fulsome wine, with tight, fine-grained tannin structure underlying the fruit. There are flavours of ripe dark red berries, with savoury hints that gently fill the mouth, and gradually grow in sweetness. The mouthfeel has a degree of softness and finesse to the textures and the wine carries through effortlessly to a lifted toasty finish. This is an elegant Pommard with the underlying structure to see it develop over the next 7-9 years. Aged 14-18 months in 20% new French oak barrels. 17.5/20 Apr 2013 RRP $78.60
