Joseph Drouhin Gevrey-Chambertin 2009

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 19-Apr-2013
Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is deep and well concentrated with aromas of black fruits, spices, and game, unfolding hints of oak toast in the glass. Full-bodied, this is solidly presented with rich flavours of black-red fruits and an underlying game-like complexities with nuances of spices and oak. The mouthfeel is fulsome with plenty of structure encasing the fruit, and good acid freshness. The balance of the palate with fruit sweetness and grip is a highlight, and the palate has good alcoholic drive leading to a long and sustained finish. A classical complex, dark flavoured Gevrey-Chambertin to drink over the next 7-10 years. Aged 14-18 months in 20% new French oak barrels. 18.0+/20 Apr 2013 RRP $82.10
