Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er ‘Clos des Mouches’ Blanc 2010

Chardonnay from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 19-Apr-2013
From 6.82 ha of domaine fruit from vines 45 y.o. average, fully barrel fermented and aged 12-15 months in 25% new French oak barrels. Full, deep, light golden yellow colour. This has a full, broad, but densely packed nose of ripe stonefruits and nuts infused with sulphide reductive complexties and oak toast. Full-bodied, and deeply weighted, this is solidly presented on palate. The fruit extract provides a fine textural structure, the fruit a little reticent for the size. Savoury yellow stonefruits, and nuts unfold to reveal oak and layers of flinty minerals. The acidity becomes more prevalent from mid-palate and shows good energy, leading to a strong finish. This is a fulsome, archetype Beaune ‘Clos des Mouches’ blanc with considerable presence. It will develop over the next 6-8+ years. 18.5/20 Apr 2013 RRP $140.85
