Johner Estate Wairarapa Chardonnay Methode Traditionnelle 2009

Sparkling Wine from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 16-Jan-2012
100% Chardonnay fruit from Waipipi, near Masterton, fermented to 12.0% alc. and carrying 1.8 g/L rs, on lees since August 2009. This bottling disgorged after 24 months. Bright straw-yellow colour with pale golden hues and quite light on rim, this has a moderately persistent, fine bead. On nose quite elegant with fresh and intense aromas of florals, citrus fruits and delicate bready-yeasty autolysis elements. Dryish to taste, this is an elegantly proportioned and poised wine with sweet, near succulent citrussy fruit at the core, allied with delicate bread yeast flavours. Accessible and fine-featured, this is subtly and softly mouthfilling, and finishes with gentle flavours and freshness. This is a clean-fruited and upfront sparkling wine with some finesse. Serve as an aperitif or match with seafood over the next 2+ years. Lot 0409. The wine in released in 300 bottle batches. 17.5/20 Jan 2012 Available cellar door. RRP $40.00
