Wairarapa fruit WBP and fully indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned 330 L barrels to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 4.5 months in barrel undergoing batonnage. Bright pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The nose is light with fresh citrussy fruit aromas lifted by esters, yellow florals and a little spicy, nutty oak. Medium-bodied, light and fresh, primary citrus fruit flavours are the feature, showing some subtle nutty, spicy oak interest in support. This has good presence and positive mouthfeel, enhanced by some barrel-ferment creaminess. Lacy acidity balances the fruit and provides a degree of elegance and liveliness to the palate, carrying the flavours to a light, dry finish. This is a youthfully fresh, light, citrussy Chardonnay with hints of oak nuttiness. Serve with seafood and creamy sauce poultry dishes over the next 3+ years. 16.5/20 Sep 2013 RRP $26.00
