Johner Estate Wairapapa Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 20-Sep-2013
Bright straw-yellow colour, pale on rim. The nose is softly full and gentle with aromas of ripe tropical fruits, limes and herbs, revealing white floral detail with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, subtle, sweet gooseberry fruit flavours combine with tropical fruits, showing some youthful fermentation esters lift. The wine has an underlying freshness and zesty crispness from bright, ripe acidity, but this is balanced by the fruit richness and a soft, grainy textural line. The flavours flow smoothly to a soft, dry finish with nuances of gooseberries. This is a soft, ripe and well-balanced Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry and tropical fruit flavours and gentle underlying acidity. Serve as an aperitif and with Asian fare over the next 2+ years. Wairarapa fruit partially wild yeast fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc., the wine aged on lees 3 months. 17.0/20 Sep 2013 RRP $20.00
