Johner Estate ‘Sur Lie’ Gladstone Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 25-Jan-2016
MS clone fruit from the ‘Home’ vineyard, partially indigenous yeast fermented with 10% in seasoned oak to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 7 months on fine lees. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on edge. The nose is restrained in expression, showing fresh aromas of gooseberry fruit with clarity and purity. Subtle nuances of tropical fruits and refreshing minerals emerge with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has well-bound, stylish flavours of gooseberries, herbs, green apples and tropical fruits. Subtle, minerally lees elements add interest. The mouthfeel has fine phenolic textures and presence, with crisp acidity lending liveliness, and the wine carries to a moderately sustained finish. This is an elegant, crisp Sauvignon Blanc with restrained flavours of gooseberries and tropical fruits, with mineral detail. Serve with salads and vegetables, and Mediterranean fare over the next 2+ years. 17.5-/20 Jan 2016 RRP $24.00
