Johner Estate ‘Single Vineyard Sur Lie’ Gladstone Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 21-Apr-2014
A single vineyard wine, the fruit WBP and 10% barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 3.9 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees for 8 months. Bright pale straw-yellow colour with light lemon-green hues, paler on rim. The bouquet is elegant with growing volume and breadth, showing light aromas of tropical fruits, green capsicums, herbs and a hint of savoury, secondary beans, revealing some smoky lees. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, restrained flavours of nectarines and spicy green stonefruits are entwined with fresh herb and gooseberry notes. The palate has good presence and roundness featuring a strong core, with some weight and texture from the barrel work and lees. Soft acidity enhances the element of unctuousness, and the flavours flow to a dry finish. This is a gently lush, accessible Sauvignon Blanc showing some barrel work and lees interest. Serve with herb-marinated poultry over the next 2-3 years. 17.0/20 Apr 2014 RRP $24.00
