Johner Estate ‘Moonlight’ Wairarapa Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 15-Apr-2013
Soft ruby-red colour with garnet hues and a little brick on rim. This has a gently full nose of savoury red berry fruits with notes of dried herbs and mushrooms, along with a little resiny oak. The bouquet has a good core and the aromatics open out evenly in the glass. Medium-bodied, light, juicy fruit flavours of savoury red fruits intermingle with game, bramble and dried herb notes. Lacy acidity lends a degree of lusciousness and liveliness to the mouthfeel. The tannin extraction is modest and supple, well-balanced with the fruit and is underlined by some alcohol warmth. The flavours flow softly to a light, easy finish. This is a soft, light, and sweet fruited, savoury Pinot Noir to serve with antipasto and poultry over the next 3-4 years. Fruit selected for an accessible style, hand-picked and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 4 weeks on skins and aged 12 months in seasoned French oak. 16.5/20 Apr 2013 RRP $22.00
