Johner Estate Gladstone Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 01-Mar-2011
The signature wine for Johner Estate, made from clones 5, 114, 115, 666 and 777, some whole bunch in the fermentation, aged around 15 months in 25% new French oak. Medium-deep ruby-red in colour, this has a firm, tightly bound bouquet of fresh dark berry fruits, violets and black pepper, along with spicy oak. Fullish in body, this has an excellent core of intense dark red berry and cherry fruit flavours with fine-grained tannin extraction providing good structure and support. Some oak spiciness contributes interest and the 13.5% alc. warmth adds to the generosity. The wine is very well-proportioned and its harmony lends results in elegance. Match with Asian roast duck dishes over the next 6-8+ years. 18.0-/20 Mar 2011 RRP $34.00
