Johner Estate Gladstone Noble Pinot Noir 2014

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 20-Sep-2015
Bright, light peach colour with some depth, lighter on edge. This has a full and voluminous bouquet with soft quince, cooked strawberry and plum compote aromas along with an overlay of smoky, toasty oak. Nuances of marmalade and musk emerge in the glass. Very sweet and medium-bodied, rich and luscious, mouthfilling flavours of quince, and strawberries are entwined with fulsome flavours of toasty oak. Marmalade and musk detail unfold, adding to the rounded core and breadth on the palate. The wine flows easily following a fine textured line. This has fresh acidity lending liveliness and cut, leading to a long, lush, but refreshing finish. This is a very individual Pinot Noir dessert wine with luscious quince and strawberry flavours, and a toasty oak overlay, on a crisp, lively palate. Match with fruit desserts over the next 4-5 years. 70% botrytis affected fruit fermented to 13.5% alc. and 130 g/L RS, a portion of the wine aged 4 months in new oak. (375 ml) 17.0/20 Sep 2015 RRP $22.00
