Johner Estate Gladstone Cabernet/Merlot/Malbec 2009

Cabernet Franc from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 01-Mar-2011
Approx. 37% Cabernet Franc, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Malbec and 14% Merlot from Gladstone, aged in French oak for 15 months. Full, black hued ruby-red in colour with purple hues, this has a full, soft, aromatic nose showing lifted blackcurrant and herby fruit with a little touch of sappiness. Medium bodied at 13.4% alc., the full currant flavours and rounded, moderately rugged tannin grip enables approachability now. The acidity is soft and in balance. A little more ripeness and dimension would lift this wine. Nevertheless a wine that will be an enjoyable match with grilled red meats over the next 4-5+years. 16.0-/20 Mar 2011 RRP $40.00
