John Forrest ‘Collection’ ‘The White’ 2007

Blended White from New Zealand - Other
Review Date : 02-Sep-2011
An eclectic blend of Viognier from the Gimblett Gravels, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc with Gewurztraminer from Marlborough, and Pinot Gris from the Waitaki Valley, fermented to 13.8% alc. and 6.5 g/L rs. Pale straw yellow colour with a youthful, pale edge, this has a full nose with presence, but subtle aromas of savoury, toasty herbs, white stonefruits and florals. Dry to taste, this combine a rich texture with brisk acidity. An array of stonefruit and herb flavours unfold, showing toasty secondary nuances. This will still develop with greater interest and layers over the next 4-5 years. The Chenin Blanc component was increased, and the Sauvignon Blanc decreased for this third release of this label. 225 dozen made.  Aug 2011
