John Forrest ‘Collection’ Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2007

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 02-Sep-2011
This has a very dark, deep, purple-hued, black-red colour. Still tightly bound on the nose, this shows robust, dry, dusty-earthy black berry fruits and black pepper along with some savoury, meaty secondary aromas. Full-bodied at 14.5% alc., this is more refined on palate with a more elegant proportion and mouthfeel than the nose suggests. Intense black fruits, pepper, earth and tar flavours, developing secondary game complexities feature. The palate has a line of power, and drives a line of dry, fine grainy tannins through the length of the palate. 145 dozen made.  Aug 2011
