John Forrest ‘Collection’ Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Cabernet Sauvignon from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 02-Sep-2011
Dark, deep, black-red in colour with some youthful purple hues, the bouquet has very ripe and exuberant black berry and cassis aromas, complexed by developing earth, game and cedary secondary notes, lifted with oak spices, all becoming integrated. This is densely constructed at 14.0% alc., with an iron core, the palate packed with succulent ripe black fruits, checked by refined tannin grip. Though starting to soften and beginning to show earthy nuances, this has another 12-15+ years ahead. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in one-third new French barriques. 150 dozen made.  Aug 2011
