John Forrest ‘Collection’ Bannockburn Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 02-Sep-2011
Made from 90% Clone 5, the remainder the Dijon clones, fermented to 13.3% alc. Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, the bouquet is one of great purity of dark cherries, thyme herbs and violetty florals, still very tight, but very concentrated. The palate combines real depth of ripe, black fruits and floral, perfumed lift with sumptuously supple, fine-grained tannin textures. Oaking is very sensitive. This has elegance with intensity, the core of the wine densely packed, promising to unfold more over the next 5-7 years. 295 dozen made.  Aug 2011
