Johanneshof Maybern Single Vineyard Reserve’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 17-Feb-2014
Dark, even ruby-red colour with purple hues on rim. The nose is gentle and voluminous with fragrant red florals and vibrant dark red berry fruits, the aromatics primary and lifted with whole berry fermentation confectionary elements. Medium-full bodied, bright and juicy raspberry and succulent black-red berry fruits feature on the palate and are enlivened by bright, refreshing acidity. This has good depth and extraction, the tannins fine-grained, building with firmness and carrying through to a long, dry, textured, raspberry nuanced finish. This is a juicy, raspberry fruited and concentrated Pinot Noir with a fine, firm tannin line. Match with coq au vin and casseroles over the next 5 years. Fruit from Dijon clones Pinot Noir, hand-picked and indigenous yeast fermented with a small portion of whole clusters to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 30% new French oak barrels. 17.5+/20 Feb 2014 RRP $TBA
