Bright, very pale straw, near colourless on rim. The nose is soft and fresh with tightly bound aromas of white florals, herbs, gooseberry fruit infused with lifted fermentation esters of youth. Dry to taste and softly textured, this features a gentle core of gooseberry fruit, lifted by florals, herbs and esters. The fruit has sweetness and is enlivened by lacy, background acidity. The wine is harmoniously balanced and flows effortlessly with energy and tension, carrying through to a delicately aromatic finish. This is an elegant and fine-textured, aromatic Sauvignon Blanc with youthful esters lift. A little more time in bottle will see the fruit blossom. Match with Asian cuisine over the next 2 years. Mixed clone fruit from the Lower Wairau Plains, cool-fermented in stainless-steel with a small portion in oak to 11.7% alc, the wine aged on lees. 17.5-/20 Oct 2014 RRP $21.95
