Johanneshof Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 27-May-2013
Hand-picked Sauvignon Blanc fruit from Woodbourne with 15% Semillon, fermented in newish French oak to 13.5% alc. and 7 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees. Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues. The bouquet is full and bold with a tightly bound core of grassy fruit entwined with lantana, gooseberries and subtle spicy oak. Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, rich and lush grassy fruit flavours show with lanolin and lantana notes along with restrained, spicy oak. The zestiness of the mouthfeel is enhanced by crisp acidity, adding to the fruit sweetness. Light, drying textures grow, toning down the flavours and carry the palate to a dry finish with moderate length. This is a traditional, lush, grassy Sauvignon Blanc with noticeable Semillon herbal flavours but subtle oaking. Serve with herb-infused seafood and poultry dishes over the next 3-4 years. 17.5/20 May 2013 RRP $24.00
