Johanneshof Marlborough Riesling Medium-Dry 2015

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Aug-2015
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with some depth, and lighter green hues on the rim. The nose is elegant and shy, with delicate and refined aromas of lime fruit entwined with white florals and gentle layers of honeysuckle and talc botrytis. Nuances of minerals emerge with aeration. Medium in sweetness and medium-bodied, the palate features rich and complex flavours of white and exotic yellow florals, lime fruit, honeysuckle and talc botrytis that form a rounded, but concentrated core. The mouthfeel is textured with fine phenolics that grow in prominence, but the wine is fresh and lively with balancing acidity. This has a good line with positive drive, carrying the flavours of limes, honey and talc to a moderately long, sherbet-nuanced finish. Delicate on the nose, this Riesling has a rich core of florals, honey and talc botrytis on a fine, textural palate. Match with Asian fare over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the Rapaura district, approx. 10% botrytis affected, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc., 15 g/L RS and TA 7.4 g/L. 17.5/20 Aug 2015 RRP $25.00
