Johanneshof Marlborough Riesling Medium-Dry 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-May-2014
Bright straw-yellow colour with light lemon-gold hues, pale on rim. The nose is full with softly dense aromas of lime fruit intermixed with complexing flint and wet-stone mineral detail, revealing hints of honey and sherbet elements with aeration. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, funky lees and reductive nuances add interest to the lime, floral and honied fruit flavours. The mouthfeel is bright with good, ripe acid liveliness, and flows smoothly, the flavours blossoming the fill the palate. The wine has good presence and carries the flavours to a long, thirst-quenching finish with mineral, floral and honied notes. This is a fresh medium-dry Riesling with rounded mouthfeel and subtly complex, funky flavours, reminiscent of wines from the Pfalz. Serve as an aperitif, with seafood and tapas over the next 5+ years. Hand-picked fruit fermented to 12.5% alc. and 15 g/L RS. 18.0/20 May 2014 RRP $25.00
