Johanneshof Marlborough Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Nov-2016
Bright, very pale straw colour with a suggestion of blush, very light on the edge. The nose is fresh with tightly bound, penetrating aromas of white and yellow stonefruits and nuances of rose-petals and exotic florals, unfolding hints of minerals. The aromatics are clear and pure in expression. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is taut with intensely packed, vibrant and lively flavours of white and yellow stonefruits lifted by rose-petal and floral aromatics. The palate flows along a soft-textured phenolic line with ripe acidity providing good energy. The wine leads to a fresh, elegant, vibrant and lively, fragrant-fruited finish. This is a vibrant and intense off-dry Pinot Gris with exotic fruit and floral favours on a soft-textured palate. Serve with Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the Middle Wairau, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 10.0 g/L RS, the wine given some lees contact. 18.0/20 Nov 2016 RRP $28.00
