Johanneshof Marlborough Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Aug-2015
Fruit from the Grovetown district from 10 y.o. vines, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 16.8 g/L RS, the wine given light lees contact. Bright, light straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of blush, pale edged. The nose is gently full and softly aromatic, showing fresh yellow stonefruits intermixed with exotic florals, spices and subtle herbal elements. Medium in sweetness and light-medium bodied, the flavours of yellow stonefruits, flowers and honeysuckle are bright, lively and lifted, and unfold spicy nuances. The mouthfeel is smooth, even and flowing with light, lacy acidity lending freshness and vitality. The palate has a soft core with linearity, leading to a long softly rich finish with exotic floral notes. This is a soft, light, up-front, aromatic medium Pinot Gris with floral, stonefruit and honied flavours. Serve as an aperitif and with mildly spicy dishes over the next 3+ years. 17.5-/20 Aug 2015 RRP $28.00
