Jean Chartron Puligny-Montrachet 1er Folatieres’ 2010

Chardonnay from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 29-Apr-2013
Bright straw-yellow colour with pale golden hues. The nose is intense and penetrating with firm and robust citrus fruit with oak toast background, and powerful flinty and mineral reductive complexities. Medium-bodied, the fruit is surprisingly restrained and the mouthfeel rounded and soft. Some grainy textures are present, but the acidity is a little low. The palate is one of breadth and presence. Some flinty interest is prevalent and carries through to a dry, textured, but vinous finish with some length. The fruit is a little subdued and the wine is softly dry. Will this develop more richness in bottle? 5-6+ years. Fruit from ‘Folatieres’, from vines 21 – 72 y.o., fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 30% new barrels. 18.0/20 Apr 2013 RRP $144.00
