Jean Chartron Puligny-Montrachet 1er ‘Clos de la Pucelle’ Monopole 2011

Chardonnay from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 18-Sep-2014
Full straw-golden colour with some depth and green hues on edge. This has a very refined, tight and elegant nose of white florals and white stonefruits, showing purity and a mineral complexity. With aeration, intense nutty elements unfold and build in depth. The palate is fine-featured and tightly bound, flowing along a very fine textured line. Almond, marzipan nutty flavours feature. The restraint and dryness is bordering on austerity, but this has detail. Excellent acid vitality and drive carries the wine to a long, lingering finish. Refined, elegant and classically nutty. 6-7+ years. Fruit from 1.16 ha of vines, aged 31 - 66 y.o., from the ‘Clos du Pucelle’ monopole, the wine aged 12 months in 30% new barrels. 18.0+/20 Sep 2014 RRP $115.00
