Jamet Cote-Rotie 2010

Syrah from France - Rhone
Review Date : 03-Jan-2015
Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red. The nose is full and softly presented with red berry fruits intermixed with cool-spectrum herb and leaf notes, and subtle smoky oak nuances. This has perfume. Medium-bodied and elegant in proportion, the fruit is in the cooler spectrum with the red fruits alongside vegetal, leaf and stalky notes. Some new oak lift is apparent in the flavour mix. The palate possesses a firm core of drying tannins, the extraction up-front and prominent, but recedes to allow the fruit to emerge. The mouthfeel is fresh and lively, the acidity and the coolness lending energy. A cooler expression of Syrah, with freshness and plenty of tannin breadth and depth. This will keep for a decade plus. Fruit more from Cote Brune, fermented with a high proportion of whole bunches to 12.5% alc., cuvaison 21-22 days, the wine aged 22 months in mixed format oak, up to 20% new. 17.5-/20 Nov 2014 RRP $125.00
