Jacob’s Creek ‘Reserve’ Barossa Shiraz 2008

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 07-Jun-2011
Fruit primarily from sites on the Barossa Valley floor, fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine matured 20 months in new and seasoned French and American oak barrels. Very full, near saturated black-red in colour, this has a softly full, finely intense nose of ripe black berry, plum and liquorice aromas, along with elements of spice and sweet oak. A little restrained on palate at first, flavours of ripe dark berry and plum fruits, black pepper, Asian spices and liquorice show and grow on a finely extracted, gentle, soft textured palate. There is sweetness and some liveliness from good acid balance and good body and length. Match with hearty grilled and roasted red meat dishes over the next 5-6 years. 17.0/20 Jun 2011
