Instinct Hawke’s Bay Merlot Rosé 2009

Rose from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 03-Jun-2014
The waxing and waning of rosé wine popularity seems to have settled. No doubt the approach of using fruit specifically for the style has been a key part in improvement and consistency of the wines in this category. This has a bright, light cerise appearance, and shows fresh, clear-cut red berry aromatics in a tight, linear style. On palate dry and with good body at 14.0% alc., and <2.0 g/L rs, this has a firm, crisp palate with restrained fruit expression. A tightness with slight phenolic grip contributes to the drier, more austere style that makes this wine a particularly food-friendly style, either with hard cheeses and antipasto, or with rich, tomato-based pasta dishes. Sourced from Hawke's Bay fruit, given limited skin contact. Drink over the next year. 15.5-/20 Nov 2010 RRP $18.95
