Instinct Hawke’s Bay Merlot/Cabernet 2009

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 03-Jun-2014
The 2009 harvest was another very successful one in Hawke's Bay, making it the sixth top vintage in a row. Fruit for this wine was sourced from the Gimblett Gravels. Bright, dark purple-red in colour, this has an elegant and finely proportioned aromatic bouquet of fresh dark berry and plum fruits along with blackcurrant notes and a little oak cedar. Medium-weighted at 13.5% alc., this has bright, ripe, dark berry fruit flavours showing moderate sweetness and succulence. Fresh acidity contributes to the lifted fruit, and firm tannins provide a dry, linear finish to a wine that will match a wide range of grilled and roasted red meat dishes over the next 4-6 years. 16.5/20 Feb 2011 RRP $20.00
