INO Xinomavro Naoussa 2008

Other Red from Other
Review Date : 25-Aug-2012
Xinomavro grapes from the greater Naoussa region in Greece, fermented to 12.5% alc. Dark, deep, garnet-red with black hues, some bricking on rim. This has a full, soft and densely packed nose with warm savoury game, earth and mushroom aromas, revealing some tar and liquorice ripe fruit elements. Full-bodied to taste, dark plum, earth, savoury game and brown spice fruit flavours are framed in a seriously extracted palate. The tannins are the feature, but the secondary, savoury, oxidative flavours grow to fill the mouth. The acidity is low, adding to the rounded nature of the wine. This is a robust red wine with savoury secondary earthy flavours to match slow-cooked game meat over the next 4-6 years. 16.5/20 Aug 2012 RRP $22.95
