Incognito Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2011

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 25-Jan-2012
Single vineyard, low-cropped fruit fermented to 14.0% alc. and 8 g/L rs, the wine matured on lees for 4 months. Bright straw-yellow colour with a green hue, pale edged. This has a full, voluminous bouquet with restrained aromas of pure, ripe pear fruit with a little smokiness and flint interest. Off-dry to taste, the flavours of pears are expressed gently, and with the round, soft textures, this possesses balance and harmony on the palate. There is good weight and depth, a little alcohol warmth and lowish acidity adding to the richness and sweetness of the flavours. The wine finishes with dry stonefruit flavours and moderate length. A gently, restrained Pinot Gris with subtle richness but good body. Match with Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. 17.5-/20 Jan 2012 RRP $13.99
