Incognito ‘Prestige’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2009

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 12-Jul-2011
Very full, deep, dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, this has a concentrated and densely packed nose of black berry and blackcurrant fruits, ink and graphite along with complex earthy notes. A powerful, tightly bound and concentrated wine, this possesses good proportion, with intense blackcurrant and cassis flavours nuanced with black pepper and subtle spices, framed by significant tannins. The textures are fine, and the palate has good tension from the acidity, and the balance of the wine will ensure 5-7 years of development ahead. A wine that speaks of its Gimblett Gravels origins. Match with hearty red meat dishes such as casseroles and lamb shanks. 100% Syrah from the Gimblett Gravels, fermented to 13.8% alc. 17.5/20 Jul 2011 RRP $22.00
