Incognito ‘Barrel Fermented’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 11-Dec-2012
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale on rdge. This has an elegantly proportioned nose with tight and tautly bound aromas of ripe citrus and stonefruit forming a concentrated amalgam with minerally, nutty, lees elements. Medium-bodied, well-concentrated and intense flavours of ripe, savoury citrus fruit and nutty oak form a good core that flows smoothly with drive. Creamy barrel-ferment textures are balanced by fine acidity, and the mouthfeel has good energy and linearity. The finish is long and sustained with restrained citrus and nutty flavours and brisk acidity. This is an elegantly concentrated Chardonnay with restraint and tight structure. Match with roast pork over the next 4-5 years. Chardonnay fruit from Gimblett Road barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in French oak. 17.5+/20 Dec 2012 RRP $17.99
