Hunter’s Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 02-Oct-2017
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with lighter garnet hues on edge. This has a full and broad bouquet with deep and densely packed aromas of savoury dark red berry fruit along with piquant fresh herbs, along with secondary development notes of earth, dried herbs and undergrowth. Some soft red florals emerge with aeration. Medium-full bodied, rich and savoury dark red berry fruit flavours are melded with secondary earth, dried herb and undergrowth complexities. Some layers of game, spice and florals unfold. This has a deep core, supported by softly dry, grainy textured tannins, providing structure and balance to the fruit sweetness. There is good acid energy and drive that carries the solid palate to a dry, savoury, earthy fruited finish. This is a full, solidly packed, savoury fruited Pinot Noir with some development and dry structure. Serve with mushroom risotto and pasta dishes over the next 4+ years. Fruit from vines 10-25 y.o., fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 25% new French oak. 17.5-/20 Jun 2015 RRP $28.99
