Hunter’s Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Nov-2014
Bright straw-yellow colour, lighter edged. The nose is tightly bound with a core of ripe yellow stonefruits and apricot kernels, along with delicate layers of nuts, spices and minerals, unfolding floral and honeysuckle notes. Off-dry to taste, gentle flavours of white and yellow stonefruits are infused with mineral and honied nuances. The fruit has restrained richness and sweetness, balanced by fine, grainy phenolics. The acidity is soft, lending a rounded mouthfeel with good presence, adding to the positive core. The wine carries through to a light finish with stonefruit and honeysuckle elements. This is a gentle, dryish Pinot Gris with light and soft stonefruit and honied flavours. Match with Asian cuisine over the next 3 years. Marlborough fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel with 5% in seasoned oak to 13.5% alc. and 3.66 g/L RS. 17.5-/20 Nov 2014 RRP $20.99
