Hunter’s Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2014

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 25-Mar-2015
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter edged. The nose is elegantly proportioned with tight and penetrating aromas of rose-petal florals and essence of Turkish Delight. This is finely concentrated, unveiling mineral and perfumed bath salt interest and nuances of exotic fruits. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the fruit flavours of rose-petal florals and Turkish delight show with some lusciousness, building in depth and presence on the palate. The mouthfeel is soft-textured with mellow acidity lending a rounded, but dense core. Some alcohol power contributes to the drive which leads to a gentle, long finish of exotic florals. This is a soft but well-weighted off-dry Gewurztraminer with rose-petal fruitiness. Serve with Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese fare over the next 4+ years. Wairau Valley fruit cool-fermented to 14.5% alc. and 6.46 g/L RS. 18.0-/20 Mar 2015 RRP $24.99
