Hunter’s Chardonnay 2019, Marlborough

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Feb-2021
Bright, straw-yellow, faintly lighter on the rim. The nose is gentle with some power, nuances of tree fruit, stonefruit and blossom underlying subtle flintiness. Medium-bodied, neat flavours of pear, nectarines along with citrus entwined with barrel spice and flint. The mouthfeel is clean with the freshness of fruit and acid crunch, along with a subtle creamy line, lends a smooth flow. This vibrant, youthful Chardonnay with flavours of pear and stonefruit, enriched by flint and barrel spice on a smooth-textured flow. Match with monkfish and chicken schnitzel over the next 3 years. Fermented in 500-litre French oak puncheons to 13.5% alc, 80% MLF, aged on yeast lees for 10 months. Vegan friendly. 17.5/20 pts (88 pts) Feb 2021 RRP $24.90
